Migration of Bats

The world’s largest migration of ungulates is renowned but few know about the golden hued fruit bats around 8-10 million which descend on a wee patch swamp forest in October and December in Kasanka national park. Early morning, you can find more than 7000 bits per second lifting off from the forest and they come back in the evening, swirling which fills the sky. This is the world’s highest density of mammalian biomass marking 5.5 million pounds of flying bats.

One of the festivals includes 4-day Makishi masquerade which takes place in August in North West province.
