Top 10 Destinations for Honeymoon Couples which are Non-Traditional

The idea of honeymoon destinations to most of the people is either luxury beachside getaways or romantic retreats to cities like Paris, etc. But instead of planning the vacations to relaxing beaches, most couple chooses adventurous places like Iceland and Patagonia. The Valais region in the south west part of the country leaves everyone surprised and delighted by the vino from the upper Rhone river valley and its beautiful scenery, which includes Matterhorn and charming town of Zermatt. It is considered a good alternative for California’s Napa Valley.

2. NEW ORLEANS

It’s an option for Paris, in looks; it is very romantic with delicious food. New Orlean has the charm and environment as same as Paris and is a very good option if the couple has only few days to take off after the wedding.

3. CROATIA

It’s an option for Greek Islands. Santorini is a beautiful spot for honeymoon but if looking for little less obvious, Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast is quite good. The water here is pristine and bright blue on the southern coast of Brac Island.

4. EMERALD LAKE, YOHO NATIONAL PARK, CANADA

If anyone’s is fine with trading palm trees instead of pine trees, then Emerald Lake in British Columbia allows similar experiences as of Thailand’s tropical coast which includes canoeing and rock climbing surrounded by amazing landscape. It is considered as a great alternative for Thailand.

5. JAPAN

Japan has all those things and is an unexpected choice when it comes to exploring a new country. It has same gorgeous scenery and delicious food as Italy.

6. ICELAND

People used to visit Niagara Falls for their honeymoon back in 1951, but the classical spot has now become touristy than romantic in past few decades. In Iceland, you will experience less crowd and more beaches including Skogafoss.

7. EAGLE LAKE, MAINE

Instead of Hawaii, go on a road trip to Eagle Lake in Acadia National Park. You will not miss the tropical beach when you are surrounded by gorgeous fall foliage and soothing air of mountains because it is an option for Hawaii.

8. SAMOA

An exotic beach honeymoon spot in South Pacific is a classy choice instead of Fiji. Go completely off grid in Samoa spending a romantic afternoon at To Sua Ocean Trench  (a spellbinding swimming hole located on Upolu Island) rather than booking an overwater bungalow in Fiji.

9. PORTSMOUTH, NEW HAMPSHIRE

It’s a great alternative to Caribbean. If you want to spend your honeymoon beside an ocean and eat fresh seafood, then Portsmouth, a seaside town will not disappoint you. Its a few hour drive from most of the main East Coast cities, which means you will have more time to enjoy the beach rather than waiting at the airport security lines.

10. TORRES DEL PAINE NATIONAL PARK

It can be an alternative to Mexico. For the couples looking for more adventurous destination where they can use their Spanish, keep in mind to head South America’s Patagonia region for hiking in Torres Del Paine National Park.
