The Dubai’s management for waste department of the Dubai municipality has a proper plan for the clean-up and waste removal which would occur due to the New Year celebrations in the city.

The key areas of this clean-up activity will involve The Burj Khalifa, which has become the center of world attention while the New Year celebrations, the Business Bay and Dubai Water Canal & Downtown city centre, in addition with the Jumeirah and Shaikh Zayed Road streets.
The municipality has put up a unified working team involving 717 workers & volunteers to carry out the cleanup activities during New Year celebration locations, says Abdul Majeed Sifai, Director of Waste Management Department.

He also settled that all the preparations are being organized in coordination with the administration of Burj Khalifa and private sector establishments, because they are accountable for a number of celebrations in the main city areas, in order to engage them in the cleanup activities.
The registration for volunteers and individuals teams has opened, and for those who wish to participate in the cleanup programme in different places, most importantly after midnight. The process will start after 2am in the morning, as the waste proportion start to rise after the celebrations and shows ends.

Talking about manpower, the department has designated 353 cleaners along with 20 specialized supervisors from the Operations and Cleaning Services Branch.
Cooperation is also expected from the private sector companies to provide around 364 volunteers so that they help the cleaners in the clean-up process. In addition to this, the department will be giving away 106 supplementary waste containers of various sizes mostly in the congested areas and will also provide numerous sand-sweepers to swipe clean the main roads.

The “Sanid” team, composed of 40 officers and monitors along with 500 cleaners, will be prepared for intervention as soon as they get order in case of emergency. The department of waste management will also publish advertisements regarding awareness, by way of local newspapers and municipality approved social networking websites, calling for the public revelers for adhering to the hygiene rules.
