Since the first Android phone, Google’s given up its Smartphone using system that rivals Apple’s to phone manufacturers like HTC, LG, and Samsung while letting those companies manage the hardware. The Nexus line of devices was intended to work as the titular Android experience but Samsung phones continued dominant in terms of demand and outright sales. So Google not only produced a de-facto Android phone, the company even put its name on it.

So in this year 2016, we finally have a Google phone. Or market name as, Pixel: Phone by Google. The Alphabet-owned company wants to put this device as the iPhone of Android phones. It’s a premium-made device at a premium price. But if Google is taking on Apple and Samsung with the Pixel, how does it fare?
First thing after seeing the Pixel, it looks Thick, Why it’s so big? Lately, phone makers have placed a preference on thinness. Even though a bigger phone tends to lead to a bigger battery, handset manufacturers like Apple gave priority the depth of the device–even if it means a camera lens that’s sticking out from the back of the phone but Google tried to eschews this thinking with its Pixel phone.

The phone isn’t a big heavy phone, but it does look thick than the other 2016 phones on the market. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S7, for example, the back of the Pixel is one smooth surface. The phone’s camera stays tucked under the surface and there’s a good possibility Google was able to fill the extra room with more battery. The Pixel XL has a 5.5-inch screen, the equivalent diagonal screen size as the iPhone 7 Plus, but felt much more comfy to hold than the sometimes awkward larger iPhone. , Using the large Pixel feels like keeping a Smartphone. Using the large iPhone feels like handling a lunch tray.
Another thing everyone notices about a phone is how’s The Camera? Google’s quick to praise the prowess of its rear camera on the Pixel phone. The 12.3-megapixel camera is equivalent to rival smart phones on the market with one standout metric and it’s a Google’s phone receives a DxOmark rating of 89, better than any other Smartphone on the market. Impressive!

The Pixel’s highly-rated camera keeps up well in low-light situations like at the bar or after sundown too. And selfies come out precise and clear when using the front-facing camera. The Pixel can’t match the second photo lens on the back of the bigger iPhone. Nor the zoom that comes with it but the iPhone can zoom farther and offer a sharper photo. Zoom aside; Google’s premium phone camera is just as proficient as Apple’s. If you’re using your Smartphone to click photos you likely aren’t thinking to use those pictures for professional shots or printing poster. Click a photo with this camera and your picture will come out good. , Just like if you clicked that picture with iPhone or Galaxy S7, it will come out nice. For many real-world uses, the Pixel and its opponent are lots.
Now we on about how much storage this phone have, Does it really have unlimited storage? The answer is Google’s Pixel phone has 32 GB storage options, which actually gives you with 23 GB of storage you can make use of. Google also gives a 128 GB version of the device for those looking for added storage. You won’t be able to fit a micro-SD card to the Pixel, but Google’s Smartphone can rely on something else.

Google’s giving Pixel users the option of offloading their photo and video library onto Google Photos when required. Swiping open the app’s hamburger menu to the left and choosing ‘Free up space’ The phone will question if you want to upload ‘X’ number of pictures and videos to the cloud. Choosing yes will upload all to Google’s servers and free your device. When you’re without service you’re still able to load lower-resolution versions of your photos.
What about the new fancy AI features? Google is linking its Pixel phone with the new Google Assistant. Included in its Allo chat app, the Assistant is the latest version of Android’s Google Now features. Just say the words, ‘Ok, Google’ aloud and the Assistant is ready to answer questions. Based on your location, the Assistant will serve up relevant information regarding what is happening around you. And depending on what you’re viewing on screen, bringing forward the Assistant will have it chime in with information on that screen. , Very convenient. The feature is helpful and comes with any download of the Allo app. The variation is Pixel buyers get the assistant highlighted in Allo throughout the whole operating system. Even iOS users can use the Assistant within Google’s app.
And unlike the iPhone 7 it does have a headphone jack. It has 3.5mm-supporting headphones can work with Google’s Pixel, and that’s without an adapter.

After so many news about the Samsung device is catching up fire this question is quite valid to ask. Will the battery catch on fire? Well. The answer is No. it charges at blazing-fast rates. Google declares users can get 7 hours out of charging for 15 minutes and our experiments held up with that claim. When charged with the USB-C cable and added charging block, the Pixel did indeed charge at a fast pace. The phone shows how fast power is moving through it by reporting just that, just near the fingerprint icon you’ll notice a status message that says, ‘Charging rapidly.’ We also can choose the option in the phone to be ‘Charging’ and ‘Charging slowly’.
The smaller Pixel gives a 2,770 mAh battery while the larger XL gives a big 3,450mAh battery. Both can last you through the day during common use.

Now come to the price. The Pixel: Phone by Google costs 649.99$ Which is just as much as Apple’s most reasonable iPhone and somewhat less than Samsung’s most reasonable Galaxy S7. While Google could have made the Pixel more affordable than its opponent, it has situated the device right around other premium handsets. Which is to say that it’s high? The Pixel XL starts at 769.99$.
So the question is still the same why should you buy? If you recently bought in your sizzling Samsung Note 7 but would like to stick with Android, there’s certainly a Google phone for you. If you’re looking for a reason to make your escape out of Apple’s iOS ecosystem, you now have the perfect chance. But if you’re thinking of changing because of the camera and have a phone from 2015 or 2016, you should do yourself a favor and keep your money. Regardless, you may still be influenced by the potential that Google’s Assistant holds.
