TORONTO Scientists have developed the first holographic flexible Smartphone in the world that allows user to interact with 3D images and videos without any glasses or headgear. The device named ‘HoloFlex’ can render 3D images with motion parallax, and can stereoscopy to multiple users simultaneously without head tracking or glasses.
The device offers a new way of interacting with your Smartphone and allows glasses-free interactions with 3D images and video in a way that does not encumber the user. HoloFlex has a 1920×1080 full HD display with (FOLED) Flexible Organic Light Emitting Diode touch-screen.
Through HoloFlex, we can render Images into 12-pixel wide circular blocks which allow the full view from a particular viewpoint of the 3D object. A 3D printed flexible micro-lens array which consist of over 16,000 fisheye lenses project pixel blocks resulting 160×104 resolution image to inspect a 3D object by simply by rotating the phone from any angle.

It’s also equipped with bend sensor that allows the user to bend the phone. We can use of bend gestures to facilitate the editing of 3D models for Z-Input, like 3D printing. A user can swipe on the touch-screen to manipulate objects in the x and y axes during squeezing the display to move objects on the z-axis. Multiple users can examine a 3D model due to the wide view angle, simultaneously from different points of view.
Users can also perform holographic video conferences by employing a depth camera with one another and gives an experience to users to literally pop out of the screen and to look around each other from any angle with their faces rendered correctly.
It can also be used for holographic gaming for games like Angry Birds, for example, a user can bend the side of the display in order to pull the elastic rubber band which propels the bird.

The phone is first one of its kind as its holographic display gives an experience to literally pop out users and giving the user a chance to interact with the game while the game is on the screen in the third dimension.
